In marriage, a wife is her husband's "helpmate" and "completer." A wife "compliments" her husband in areas he is "weaker" in and the husband should do the same for his wife. Sometimes a wifes need to be "strong" for her husband in his time of need just as wives expect husband's to be strong for them. Husbands & Wives must have a "You and me against the World" attitude in a marriage. It relates back to "cleave to one another."

J2BEME!!! I TOTALLY AGREE!!!! Once people get that equation down pat the divorce rate would probably decrease, but the likeihood of it happening is slim because people her hitching up for the wrong reason and at the wrong times. Marriage is about keeping each other happy and not provoking one another. Enjoying life together and loving each other even in the bad times. Love endures all things.

Just2be - I LOVE IT! you are so right. We are a circle - we complete one another. I'm am so happy to say that with all the drama and all the stress - we are stronger than ever. If its a strong relationship, the BMD will shake it but it won't break it!

I concur...
That is truly what marriage/relationships are about. The two represent each other and should be able to pull together to fight the world. I think couples divorce/break-up when this understanding is lost. The individual have to fight at their jobs, fight traffic, negative outsiders, sometimes negative family members and THEN COME HOME TO FIGHT a nagging partner. Oooo that's too much! o:( It should be that couple against the world, that's the only way I know to make it work.

I was once told by a very intelligent man....that when a relationship stops working 1 or both of them is on some bulls*it. People get together for all the wrong reasons money, status, looks, sex, to use each other then break up for all the right reasons. Marriage has become a joke...........the divorce rates has got everybody scared to get married.

Yeah, I think people stop trying, especially a man, because it's far too easy for him to get a woman that doesn't have any self worth.
Some women are ok being second or his jump off chick. Some women put up with unnecessary crap just to say they have a man.

Keia, you are right in that the devil uses people to create trouble for families and people. The devil also uses us to create strife. The devil seizes the opportunity to use US when we are being selfish, bitter, and angry.
A sermon that I heard recently spoke about how to let go of the anger & bitterness many of us still cling to. The Pastor stated that "hurting people hurt people." We can all think of the BM or BD as hurting. But, God loves the BM/BD just as much as he loves us. God will not punish one person for hurting another. God loves us each equally.
In fact, Jesus tells us to love our enemies, bless those that curse us, do good to those that hate you, and pray for those that use & prosecute us. My translation is to - Take the High Road.
Just2be, you are right on when you state that married couples have to have an us against the world relationship. Genesis 2:24 - “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.” The family unit was put together by God (Adam & Eve). Satan will attack the family because it represents God. The DH & the wife must stand together against all trials & tribulations.

Tell it you are so 100% on this one that is the problem in relationships PERIOD............people don't want to stand TOGETHER....in spite of and in the face of all trials and tribulations. They would rather save face, or save themselves........so sad.

Beautiful thoughts from all of you. I'm getting married in September and its nice to hear positive sayings about marriage. (especially when you hear about the nearly 50% divorce rate) I hope God blesses all unions on this board.

Congratulations Gemmani. Remember to put God first. Also you each must be each other's Helpmate and Completer. If there is a crazy BM in the pic, make certain to keep her out of your marriage. She will have a lot to say about absolutely NOTHING!
