Wellll, at the current moment I am doing the fast food thing (close to home--gas--- ). But it doesnt stop there! Prior to having my baby girl I did office clerical for two years which I never returned to (didnt want to commute anymore) and am currently trying to get into the local school district while on a temporary break from college as well..whew...now that my daughter is 1 1/2 its time to get back on the ball. I'd like to get into the medical field, something like x-ray tech or law enforcement...I guess you can say Im testing the waters...I want to enjoy the profession that Im in, yet be able to support my family on a decent/steady income. I get bored easily..so it has to be something interesting..Sorry for the short story.. ;D

Memyslfni, you sound exatly like me right now, I swear. I'm currently looking for a new career path, but I'm completely stuck on WHAT to do. I just got my account degree, but don't quite want to do accounting (go figure). I want to do something that pays good money, but also allows me to spend time with my family, while not boring the life out of me. It's hard.

Hey Gem, as I have mentioned I'm doing the fastfood thing right now, part-time (only been two months). Not really something I prefer to do but it was something to get me out the house and back on track. Sometimes ya have to move backwards to move forewards-unfortunately, but it does keep me motivated. I would just do some research and see what all your options are before actually being stuck in a situation because then is when it becomes difficult to network and test the waters. When I was doing the clerical thing, there was nothing I wanted more than to be able to see what else was out there for me but didnt have the time as I was on a fulltime + overtime schedule. Now that I have the free time, I am exploring whats out there. At one point I was providing childcare and slowly winged myself from that because it consisted of being at home all day with a handful of children including my own. Until I realized Im too young to dedicate my time to that right now, I'd rather have the get up and go life. I'm registered for college right now but wasnt able to get in this semester because I waited til the last minute to register for classes as they filled so quickly...So in the meantime I've done a lil research and found that ROP classes are being held at a local high school and we all know ROP classes are free most the time...So I figure 6 months of that will get me out of fast food and into something better (unless something else comes along). And I can continue from there....Yess it is difficult trying to get in where you fit in at the same time trying make time for your family. keep ya head up somethings out there....

Well, the one thing about my job is that I have unlimited amounts of time to stay on the computer. I actually get paid for this. I need to get out of her before I throw all the staplers and post-it pads out of the window.

I'm an Administrative Assistant for a State Park... fun stuff. I get so bored (not much work comes by my desk because they are so prehistoric that ever since I got here and switched them to electronic billpay and the like - the work takes about 30mins in the morning - and the other 7.5hours I sit twaddling around).
I'm currently pursuing my Bachelor's Degree in the Social Sciences with a minor in Finance. Fun fun.
gemmani I know how you feel!

Lol, it's slowly killing me. I guess that's why I respond so often on this site- keeps me from going postal. And on top of it all, there are 3 groups that I covered on my floor, and now there's only 1. So that means I see no one, all day, on top of having nothing to do. Only an hour and a half left........

Ha - same here. I must sit at my desk and "look busy" to get through the day - otherwise I'm scrutinized - so this forum has kept me safe, lol.
I myself can not handle the fact that I'm stuck in the chair for 7.5 hours a day doing NOTHING!! And I hate busy work.. I love things that keep my brain functioning and approving electronic bill pay isn't doing it for me.
Since it's a State Park - obviously that makes me a State Employee - which means CRAPPY PAY!! UGH!!

Hey all, ;D I recently mentioned that I was employed in the fast food industry.. LOL..(I heard someone else say that). But seriously I recently made a breakthrough and just passed a test for substitute clerical with one of the local school districts in my area.. The position pays $3.50 more than what I'm getting now and $1.50 more than what I made prior. The best part is that if a permanent position should come available I'd be one of the first candidates for it...(getting into the school district was actually one of my plans to gain experience). Can we say ACCOMPLISHED BM.. Although I dont plan on giving up furthering my education...I will continue to climb....
