We have physical custody of my SD and she visits BM on the weekends. BM has recently been requesting to speak with me. She told DH that she feels that we need to "communicate better". I DO NOT speak with her on the phone.
I created an email account months ago specifically for her to keep her informed of important information regarding my SD schooling, doctor's visits, etc. I have told DH if she wants to talk to me she can email me at anytime since I check the email constantly.
I can count on two hands how many conversations I have had with her and I have been with DH for 5 years. Thus far, if she wants to speak with someone she always calls DH cell and he will call the house to put BM on 3-way with SD. This has worked very well up until now.
Now she is trying to force me to talk to her. I cannot for the life of me understand the difference between email and talking on the phone.
DH will be heading out of town soon on business so BM threatens that if I won't speak with her that she will go to court and tell them she doesn't want SD to stay with me, which is asinine seeing as my SD stays with me everyday! DH is NEVER home in the first place! I know that it's an empty threat, but why?
Her "concern" is that while DH is out of town she won't be able to talk to my SD everyday because he may be unavailable to take her calls. Again, the same exact things happens now!
I refuse to speak with her and she will NOT call my house for anything less than an emergency.
I proposed that if she feels that strongly about it that she purchase a prepaid cellphone for my SD that will remain at the house while DH is gone. This way she can call my SD everyday and talk to her whenever she wants, within reason of course. She feels that DH should purchase the phone. How she came up with that logic is beyond me? If YOU want to talk to your child using a method outside of our normal communication channels then YOU need to provide the equipment!
Am I being unreasonable?
