Please join us as we discuss another dramatic story from our book "Baby Mama Drama - It's Not Just About The Mama" , it's so much more! “Your Mama Didn’t Raise You To Act Like That” Your Mama Didn’t Raise You To Act Like That” Some people just don’t know how to be civil. You don’t have to like each other, but for the sake of the kids, you don’t have to act like a fool either. The baby mama cusses my husband out just about every time he picks up or drops off the kids. It’s even worse if we try to talk to her on the phone. I basically told my man that if she keeps this up we are going to start being available a whole lot less. So What's The Deal Here? 1.) This has to be rooted in some kind of emotional issue. Either the relationship ended badly or that the BM is feeling jealous about the new marriage or situation and that causes issues and friction for her. Maybe she is just unhappy with herself and about where she is in her life. She (BM) can’t for whatever reason look past her issues to focus on the child. 2.) Why does BM think it is OK to curse the other side (BD and company) out? One parent does not have special rights to mistreat the other parent just because you have kids with them. Can almost guarantee that there will be a point where both parents will need each other and need to be civil. This negative situation can’t work for a long period of time because the kids are going to grow up and realize what is going on. 3.) Bottom line is that people need to be able to talk to each other when they have kids. As the wife indicated, this can and will draw away the parent or father in this case. Their thought may be that they will spend the least amount of time necessary with this situation because the mother is being disrespectful. The BD may be less willing to do more than is necessary for the kids because of the drama. So What Can You Do? 1.) So the first thing is to try to determine the root of the problem. This may be difficult if neither side is willing to discuss details in a decent manner. You need to let the person know that you are NOT going to accept this kind of behavior. 2.) Whenever they start cussing, then you should shut down communications right away. You can also try other forms of communications by way of text messages or emails. Find something that works with minimal drama. 3.) Maybe you have to have a go-between such as a trusted relative to manage the exchange of kids. Both parents can attempt to use mediation to help to resolve their differences. As a last resort, you could take them to court and complain about their behavior.
