You are absolutely right tellit the article/speech is on point. Black men especially with that hip hop mentality are so self centered it is ridiculous. They obviously have no character and integrity...they only want to make themselves look and feel good. So pitiful. Mother's cannot make a boy be man and be a father. I don't believe the statistics.......if a child has a great mom who instills excellence and morals into them they will turn out to be great men with our without fathers. My brother is a great dad and is there for his kids because my dad didn't really do a lot for him. Although my brother and my dad have a good relationship. His mom was a great mom and she instilled character and responsibility into them. So I argue that dads are important but the type of child reveals the type of mother good or bad.

That's because he had a good mother. I believe the reason single parent raised kids end up in prison is not because of the absence of the father but more than likely related to the lack of financial support from the father causing mom to have to work too hard and not have time for them and the desire for nice things drives them to the street. They need to do a study on single parents whose kids receive CS and single parents whose kids do not receive CS and then we will know the truth.

Some people just have that determination in them. I wonder if DH's father had paid support if that would have helped his mom be a better mother as she could have been doing all that stuff because of stress. Encouraging them to sell drugs and steal would bring money and goods into the household. Or maybe she was a product of bad parenting. Parenting is like life coaching....if you get good parents you do pretty good.....but if you get bad parents.....you can do very bad. Very few people have that drive in them to rise above their raising.....I'm guessing like you said DH must have been more like his dad where the others were more like the mom.
